Right Plant, Right Place

Choosing the best the plants to suit your garden will save you both time and money. On this short course we will tell you what you need to consider when choosing plants and suggest the plants that will grow best for you.

Many people find their lack of plant knowledge stops them from creating the garden that they would like and it is easy to spend money on plants that subsequently die or do not look good. This course is aimed at beginners who need help planning and planting their garden borders by choosing ‘the right plants for the right place’.

At the end of the session you will have an understanding of the following:

1. Recognising different types of plants – annuals, biennials, perennials, shrubs, trees and bulbs
2. The needs of different plants with regard to: space, light, soil conditions, drainage, climate needs.
3.  Information on buying plants – where to buy plants, plant costs and availability.

We will use the borders at Fieldcrest to highlight a wide variety of plant choices and we will supply you with lists of plants suited to different environments, plus information to help you make the right choices when buying plants.
