Herbs, Vegetables & Flowers in Containers

Containers and small beds can be used to grow a wide variety of plants for use and ornament. Using containers offers lots of opportunities to grow a wide variety of plants. Advice about different containers, composts, colours and maintenance will be covered, followed by planting demonstrations showing how we use a wide variety of containers, decorative and productive, at Fieldcrest.

The day lasts from 10.15- 14.15 with tea/coffee on arrival, a morning break with tea and biscuits and a tasty two course lunch. Each session will last for approximately one hour and there will be plenty of opportunity to explore the gardens.

• Session 1: Some ideas that you can use in container gardening. We will look at the wide variety of containers available, the use of colour, texture and combining pots for maximum use and visual effects. We will look at different composts and watering methods.
• Tea Break
• Session 2: This will be a practical demonstration, looking at container ideas for use and ornament. A selection of pots will be planted up to illustrate some of the different ideas covered.
• Lunch and an opportunity to tour the Ornamental and Kitchen Gardens.
