Growing and arranging your own flowers

The emphasis of this course is on practical flower arranging.

Joanne will look at the best garden flowers and foliage to use for flower arranging and give you ideas and guidance on how to prepare, coordinate and create natural arrangements using material from the garden.

The day lasts from 10.15 – 14.45 with tea/coffee on arrival, a morning break with tea and biscuits and a tasty lunch which will incorporate our own produce. Each session will last for approximately 1 and a quarter hours and there will be opportunity to explore the gardens.

  • Arrive 10.15am for tea/coffee
  • Session 1: Joanne will show you the best flowers and foliage to use from the garden. She will discuss how to pick, prepare and condition material, and suggest good plant and colour combinations. Joanne will demonstrate some ways to use the flowers and foliage from the Kitchen and Ornamental Gardens.
  • Break for tea/coffee and homemade biscuits
  • Session 2: Everyone will cut and prepare material from the garden, (together with some extra material brought by Joanne) and make their own arrangement.
  • Homemade lunch will be served.
