This week our cutting garden is finally coming into full bloom, with the first showing coming from our alliums.
Alliums (the family of plants which includes onions and garlic) come in a wide range of colours and sizes and are great for cutting and using both for cooking* and creating striking floral displays as they bloom voraciously and, like many herbs, will happy grow back after cutting.
Here’s a selection of our prettiest blooms so far (L-R Allium Purple Sensation, Pure Chives, Garlic Chives, Allium Unifolium)
*Please do take care before using flowers and herbs in your cooking as some may not be edible. The RHS has a handy quick guide here or there are lots of great reference books.
