Quite an odd week. Our Great Tit is still lodging in the birdbox which is good. Sadly I found a dead chaffinch on the path on Monday. It was unmarked so I wondered what had happened to it, and then on Tuesday I was looking out at the birdfeeder by the house when a Kestrel shot around the corner and attempted to catch one of the birds waiting to feed. I imagine the poor chaffinch must have bolted into the window from a previous encounter. I may have to move the feeder further away from the windows which is a shame as I do love watching the birds – I will monitor the situation!
