This course is for anyone interested in designing all or some parts of their own gardens, those who may like to have an informal and friendly introduction to garden design, or anyone aiming to go on to more formal garden design studies.
The course will involve some theory, practical sessions and Fieldcrest’s varied garden areas will be used to illustrate many aspects of the course ideas. The course will run for 8 weeks in total.
Garden Design Course Outline
- Site survey, measuring and drawing a plan of the garden
- Different styles/types of garden to give focus to your design choices
- Elements of design
- Plan the ‘soft landscape’ with the use of plant types, colour, form, planting choices, height, season, maintenance.
- Consider suitable ‘hard landscaping’ – structure, boundaries, paving materials, lighting, water, containers and ornaments.
