Containers and small beds can be used to grow a wide variety of plants for use and ornament. Using containers offers lots of opportunities to grow a wide variety of plants. Advice about different containers, composts, colours and maintenance will be covered, followed by planting demonstrations showing how we use a wide variety of containers, decorative and productive, at Fieldcrest.
The course lasts from 10.30- 12.45 with tea/coffee on arrival, and there will be plenty of opportunity to explore the gardens. We will look at the basics of growing plants in containers
Part 1. In the garden room. What to grow, types of containers, composts, siting and grouping, colour scheming
Part 2. Garden walk showing where and how we use containers at Fieldcrest.
Break for tea and biscuits
Part 3. Practical demonstration of planting up various containers for summer with ornamental and productive pots.
